Greenock Creek

The Cornerstone has gradually changed its flavor over the years as Michael worked to rejuvenate the ancient vines. Over the last few vintages, the wine has moved away from the pretty roses-and berries Cotes-du-Rhone style, and developed into more of a Spanish-style Grenache, big, complex and intense. On the nose, it displays intriguing notes of leather, Grandma’s cedar spice box and cool black tea, complemented by subtle, background oak from its 16 months in seasoned French barrels. The palate is lithe and viscous, with a round, luscious mouthfeel. After the taut, dry tannins subside, there’s a delicious wave of strawberry and raspberry flavors. As with all the Greenock Creek releases, the stamp of terroir on the Cornerstone is unmistakable, reflecting the flinty, mineral nature of the soil (a thin layer of topsoil over fragmented quartz). Open and decant this one several hours before serving. Let it breathe for a while, and you’ll be charmed by the fragrant rosy character it eventually releases. It will cellar for twelve years easily, up to fifteen.

Please consider the fact that there is a big difference between a defective (or bad) bottle of wine and a wine that you simply don't like.  If you think the wine is truly defective then please let us know and we will arrange for you to receive a replacement of the same wine if possible.  If, on the other hand, you simply don't like the taste of the wine then call us at 845-680-9463 to discuss what you don't like so we can make a note and guide you to wines more to your taste.
